Vitoria Guimarães attacking midfielder Bernard Mensah has been named GHANAsoccernet.com’s Young Player of the Year 2014.
The New Year Day announcement sees the 20-year-old beat other contenders Frank Acheampong, Koby Arthur, Jeffrey Schlupp and others nominated to the award.
Mensah, a product of Fetteh Feyenoord has enjoyed a flourishing first-half of the season in the Portuguese top-flight despite his tender age.
Guimarães’ form in the league is on the shoulders of the Ghanaian youngster who has bagged four goals and is a joint top-scorer along with Portuguese André André and Jonathan Alves.

He started 13 of Guimarães’ 14 league games for the season.
His performance is already courting interest around Europe with Spanish La Liga outfit Valencia having their 2 million Euro offer for him thrown away by Guimarães.
