Belgium: Cyriel Dessers Brace Gifts Genk First League Win Of The Season

In recent times, season in and out, a Nigerian have always been at the centre of show, running things for KRC Genk and this season looks to be heading in same direction, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Paul Onuachu’s 33 league goals during the 2020-21 season cannot be forgotten in a hurry as they finished runner up and cup winner during the season.

This season already, with Onuachu yet to return to action, another Nigerian Cyriel Dessers have been running the show for KRC Genk.

Dessers scored one of the two goals for Genk as they fell 3-2 to Club Brugge in their opening fixture last Sunday.

He was also at the centre of the show this Sunday as they bounced back from the opening day setback, beating Standard Liege 3-1.

Dessers started the scoring in the game in the 5th minutes and rounded it up from the spot in the 29th minutes.

Ndayishimiye (16′) and Dr?gu? (24′) scored in-between for Genk and Standard Liege.

The victory helped put Genk back on ground as Cyriel Dessers continue from where he left off while representing Feyenoord last season.

Dessers who was on loan at Feyenoord last season bagged the highest scorer award in the UEFA Europa Conference League scoring 10 times as they finished runners up to José Mourinho’s AS Roma.
