Bayern Munich defender “?Philipp Lahm has held talks with chairman Karl Heinz Rummenigge over a possible role at the club when he retires from football, as the German looks to end his playing days in 2018 when his contract runs out with the Bundesliga champions.
Lahm is looking to stay at the club after retirement, with the World Cup winner looking at a role behind-the-scenes at the Allianz Arena.

Talking to Suddeutsche Zeitung, Lahm revealed that, “Last week was the first time I discussed the subject with Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
“I’ve always said that I would like to stay with FC Bayern.”
The possibility is in the offing after sporting director Matthias Sammer stood down in July and Lahm already has business experience with pharmaceutical company Sixtus Werke Schliersee, so he could be made for the role.
“For me it is a further training, I learn something new to know about the distribution.
“For this, the numbers are coming. I always get reports on how it runs”, before he reiterated that, “This is very interesting for me. It does not hurt to be independent.”
The former German international has his eyes on that sporting director role, but will Bayern want to wait another two years for Lahm? Or is it preferable that he has another two years to learn more about the role, in order to facilitate a smooth incoming?
Time will tell.
