Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinze Rummenigge has effectively ruled out a return for Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The 32-year-old’s Man Utd future is in serious doubt after Red Devils boss “?Jose Mourinho banished the Germany international to the reserve team.

Schweinsteiger left Bayern for Old Trafford last summer, signing a three-year deal after moving for £6.5m.

However, former United boss Louis van Gaal wasn’t impressed by the midfielder, limiting him to just 13 Premier League starts during the 2015/16 campaign.

And now, with Schweinsteiger’s future in jeopardy, Bayern chairman Karl-Heinze Rummenigge has refused to give him a life-line.

Mourinho getting unfair flak over Schweinsteiger. Ferguson made much tougher decisions. Keane’s contract was torn up when he was injured.

“I regret that what is happening to him just now,” Rummenigge told reporters, as quoted by “?ESPN. “But we have not entertained any thought of getting him back.

“I would like to remind you that one year ago Bastian Schweinsteiger has asked me especially to provide him with the experience [to move to Manchester]

“I believe it is not an easy time for him just now, but maybe it is also evidence that we deal with issues a bit more humanely, a bit more fairly and more reliably here at Bayern than is the case in one or the other bigger clubs in Europe.”

Before moving to Man Utd last summer, Schweinsteiger racked up 500 appearances for Bayern’s first-team over a successful 13-year spell.

But he failed to transfer his superb Bundesliga form to the Premier League, playing a large chunk of his football in cup competitions alongside Man Utd’s fringe players.
