Barcelona seem to be ramping up their pursuit of Bayern Munich defender David Alaba, as their sporting director Robert Fernandez was seen scouting him, as well as Saul Niguez, during Bayern’s Champions League encounter with Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.
Fernandez has been heavily involved in Barcelona’s transfer dealings this summer, and it looks as though the trend is set to continue as he was seen in the stands at the Vicente Calderon stadium on Wednesday, according to “?reports.
It is reported that Fernandez was keeping a close-eye on Alaba in particular, as Barcelona aim to replace the out-of-favour left-sided defender Jérémy Mathieu.
Saul Niguez is another person on Barcelona’s radar and due to his versatility across the pitch Luis Enrique is keen to make him a Barca player this January.

It’s not the first time Barcelona have been linked with both players, with “?reports in April claiming that Barca were interested in Saul, while other “?reports emerged in May claiming that Alaba wanted to move to the Catalan club, but only if he could play in midfield.
Luis Enrique’s side continued their unbeaten Champions League campaign with another win on Wednesday after coming from behind to beat Borussia Moenchengladbach 2-1 at the Borussia Park.
