Wilshere has been ravaged by injuries over the past two seasons.

An ankle injury in 2014/15 prevented the 24-year-old from cementing a permanent place in Wenger’s first eleven, before last season’s leg fracture restricted him to just six appearances in an Arsenal shirt.

Meanwhile, Wenger believes his charges have every chance of making the upcoming season one to remember.

The Gunners boss insists that his players have prepared well during pre-season, and says expectations are high among the group to achieve something in 2016/17.

He added: “We have prepared well, it is a very exciting season. It promises to be a very different one as well because there are so many ambitions out there so we want to focus and start well.

“It looks like that [more difficult than ever] because it is a little bit world championships of managers as well which means a lot of ambitions come with that as well and the expectation level everywhere is very high.

“Maybe the Premier League is more even than ever.”?
