Arsenal and Liverpool Set to Battle for Inter Milan Midfielder Marcelo Brozovic

“?The Italian press are reporting that Premier League heavyweights Arsenal and Liverpool are weighing up big-money moves for Inter Milan midfielder, Marcelo Brozovic.

The Croatian midfielder has seen his stock rise rapidly in 2016 after a whole host of impressive performances in Serie A, as well as, excelling for his country at Euro 2016.

“?Gazzamercato suggest that the 23-year-old midfielder is also wanted by Italian giants Juventus and Napoli along with the English giants, meaning Inter face a huge struggle to keep one of their prized assets.

Brozovic enjoyed something of a breakthrough campaign in 2015/16, establishing himself as a regular in Inter’s first-team, scoring four goals and recording five assists in 32 league appearances.

A versatile and competent midfielder, the Croatian excels in the centre of the park, with his passing and dribbling ability two key attributes to his game.

Brozovic is also able to operate effectively from the right of midfield, as he did in the Euros, much like Aaron Ramsey has done for Arsenal in recent times.

While he is undoubtedly one of the finest young talents in the game, he is perhaps a player neither Arsenal nor Liverpool desperately need.

The Gunners have a whole host of midfield experts to choose from for the upcoming season and it is likely that Brozovic would play second fiddle to the likes of Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere and Ramsey in his preferred role.

Liverpool could perhaps lay claim to requiring a midfielder of this calibre more than their Premier League rivals, however, their leaky defence should be perhaps an area Jurgen Klopp targets first.

Georginio Wijnaldum’s signing gives Liverpool extra strength and versatility in the midfield area, so it would perhaps be best if the Reds seek to invest in other areas. Left-back being a particular area of weakness with Alberto Moreno the only real contender for the position.
