Alex Iwobi has had an incredible 21/22 as he helped Everton avoid the drop to the championship with some great performances under manager Frank Lampard.
Alex Iwobi literally became a fans favorite at Goodison Park as he gave everything on the pitch to make sure Everton got the three points everytime he played.
Although he had a great season with Everton, same couldn’t be said about his career with the Super Eagles as the Nigerian didn’t register a goal for 24 months until today.
Iwobi had not scored for the Super Eagles in two years, but the versatile Everton winger ended that miserable run with the equaliser against Sierra Leone in Abuja.
Incidentally, Iwobi’s last goals for Nigeria came against the same opponents in the 4-4 draw at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin in November 2020.
The 26-year-old attacker now has ten goals in 51 games for the Eagles, level with Victor Moses and just one shy of Victor Osimhen as the pair hope to climb the Super Eagles all time goal scoring chart.
