FC Ifeanyi Ubah’s opponents in Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup first round match, Al-Masry of Egypt have confirmed they will arrive in Nnewi on tomorrow thursday February 9, for the big showdown billed for the multi-million Naira ultra-modern Ifeanyi Ubah International Stadium.
The Egyptians have written to confirm their arrival date.
“We are expecting them on Thursday. They have informed us in writing that they will fly into the country by Thursday for the match,” Paul Ezeka, spokesman of the Anambra Warriors disclosed.
It was also gathered that hotel reservation has been made by the reigning Federation Cup champions as well as adequate security arrangement for the first continental match ever to take place in the commercial city of Nnewi, South East Nigeria.
Last week, the Confederation of African Football inspection team led by Louis Lara, a Ghanaian, inspected the FC Ifeanyi Ubah International Stadium and gave it a clean bill all to host CAF’s top interclub competitions.
Chairman of the club, Chukwuma Ubah, has been an extraordinary busy man in the last weeks as he worked round the clock to ensure that everything goes according to plan.
