Ajiboye scores for Peterborough United U21 in friendly against experienced Tottenham side

Nigerian striker David Ajiboye was on target for Peterborough United U21s in a in a behind-closed-doors friendly against an experienced Tottenham Hotspur side at Hotspur Way on Wednesday afternoon.

A product of the Brighton & Hove Academy, Ajiboye joined Peterborough United on a permanent deal in the summer but has not played much since his arrival at the League One club, making only four appearances off the bench in the league.

The 24-year-old dropped down to the youth ranks in a bid to step up his match fitness, going the distance in the defeat to the Premier League side.

Harvey White broke the deadlock in the 25th minute and Bryan Gil doubled Tottenham Hotspur’s advantage a minute later.

After defender Matt Doherty made it 3-0, Ajiboye netted a consolation goal for Posh in the 70th minute.

The Nigerian drove into the box and fired into the bottom corner for what proved to be the final goal of the game.

Last season, Ajiboye was in the Sutton United side that lost on penalties to Rotherham United in the final of the Papa Johns Trophy.
