AFCON’23 Qualifier: Super Eagles were better in Abuja than Bissau – Jose Peseiro

Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro believed his team performed better in their first leg clash in Abuja where they lost by a lone goal than in Bissau in the second leg, a game they won by similar scoreline, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.

Nigeria who lost the first leg of the doubleheader AFCON 2023 qualifier at home to Guinea-Bissau redeemed their image on Monday evening by beating their host 1-0 to move top of group A.

Reacting to the victory head coach of Super Eagles Jose Peseiro said: “We dominated the match more at home than today but we could not convert our scoring chances.”

Jose Peseiro made five changes with Semi Ajayi, Kenneth Omeruo, Frank Onyeka, Terem Moffi and Moses Simon making their starting eleven.

The changes yielded expected result as Nigeria deservedly took the lead from the spot through Moses Simon after Bright Osayi-Samuel was fouled in the 18-yard box.

With the win, Nigeria are just 3 points away from a place in next AFCON.

They play Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe in the final rounds of qualifiers.
