Golden Eaglets of Nigeria have expressed delight over the arrival of their group rivals Morocco for the U17 AFCON which begins today in Algeria
The Relationship between Algeria and Morocco have gone soured that even caused the Moroccans to boycott this year’s CHAN hosted by their North African neigbours.
It was looking like history will repeat itself with the U17s until they eventually landed in Algeria Friday.
“We are all excited that Morocco finally arrived for the AFCON, this will make the competition a lot more exciting,” said Golden Eaglets spokesman Francis Achi.
“We want to play all our three group games and nothing less.”
The Golden Eaglets will tackle Morocco in their second group game in Constantine on May 3.
Achi said the Nigerian team have been widely praised for parading a bunch of young boys in Algeria, who all scaled through a mandatory age test.
“Everyone is amazed by the young team we have brought that some of them are even asking whether some of these boys are only here on a school excursion,” he said.
