AFCON U17: Golden Eaglet thrash pride FC in final tuneup match

Nduka Ugbade’s Golden Eaglets had a farewell game with Pride FC of Abuja yesterday and it was a big win for them as they recorded a 5-1 win.

to Algeria for the U17 AFCON.

Nigeriasoccernet.com gathered that 26 players made the final squad of the U17 team AFCON in Algeria.

They include:

Goalkeepers: Richard Odoh, Hameed Balogun, Pascal Uzoho

Defenders: Jeremiah Olaleke, Emmanuel Michael, Tochukwu Ogboji, Yahaya Lawal, Miracle Ogwor

Midfielders: Basil Mbata, Ebube Okere, Tochukwu Ogbabido, Richard Uche, Ozor Okeke, Raphael Oyebanjo

Forwards: Umar Abubakar, Kevwe Iyede, Light Eke, Abubakar Abdullahi, Jubril Azeez, Precious Williams

Standby: Utibe Silas, Abdullahi Buhari, Abubakar Shaibu, Tijjani Mohammed, Stephen Emmanuel

The MRI age test disqualified majority of the initially chosen midfielders who helped the team topped the WAFU qualifiers last year in Ghana.

A proposed trip to Europe was called off at the last minute and so the team will now travel directly to Algeria.

Nigeria are drawn in a first round group that also has South Africa, Zambia and Morocco.

They open their campaign in Constantine, Algeria, on Sunday, April 30 against their Zambian counterparts.

The top four teams at this tournament will qualify for the 2023 FIFA U17 World Cup later this year.
