AFCON 2023 Qualifiers: Jose Peseiro Heaps Praises On Super Eagles Players

Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro took time to praise his players following their resilient display during the game against Sierra Leone on Thursday, Nigeria Soccernet can report.

The Super Eagles came from a goal down to beat Sierra Leone 2-1 at the Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja with Alex Iwobi and Victor Osimhen scoring for Nigeria in the first half.

Speaking to the press after the game, Peseiro said: “We were better than Sierra Leone in this game, we deserve to win.

“We changed the setup in the second half, I think it was only the last 10 minutes our opponent had some good moments.”

Peseiro also believed the goal margin could’ve been wilder had his players utilised their chances.

“We created a lot of scoring chances, we could have won with a bigger margin, but the team needs more time and we must work.”

The Super Eagles will hope to make it 2/2 when they visit Agadir in Morocco next Monday for their second group game of I’m the qualifiers against Sao Tome and Principle.
