Nigerian international Elderson Echiejile has backed the Black Stars of Ghana to win the ongoing African Nations Cup (AFCON) in Equatorial Guinea.

The Monaco defender was part of the Super Eagles team that won the tournament in 2013 but Nigeria failed to qualify this time around to defend their title.

“Seriously, this is a difficult one. Every team in this year’s AFCON stand a chance,” he said in a chat withFCNaija.com

“You can see that there are no pushovers in African football anymore. I think Ghana can win this.”

Echiejile was in 90 minutes’ action for Monaco as they beat Vincent Enyeama’s Lille in a Ligue 1 match yesterday.
