Some fans in Turkey have slammed Adana Demirspor president, Murat Sancak, after hitting out at Nigeria international Henry Onyekuru for associating with players of Galatasaray in the wake of his club’s defeat on Saturday, Nigeria soccernet reports
Two late goals from Fredrik Midtsjø and Nicolo Zaniolo at NEF Stadyumu condemned Onyekuru and his teammates to their fifth defeat of the season in the Super Lig.
After the game, Onyekuru caught up with his former teammates, with whom he had his best time playing football in Turkey.
The winger had three different loan spells with Galatasaray, the first being in the 2018/19 season, where he helped them to a league title and subsequently for the second half of the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons
During his three stints, Onyekuru made 71 appearances for the Turkish giants and was on target on 22 occasions, registering 12 assists.
The 25-year-old, who is currently on loan from Olympiacos at Adana Demirspor, on Saturday was caught on camera fraternising with his former teammates at Galatasaray much to the disappointment of his current boss.
“I do not approve of Henry Onyekuru’s actions,” Sancak was quoted as saying by Transfer Merkezi on Twitter.
He ate the brush anyway. If you play for Adana Demirspor, you cannot do these movements in front of the cameras after a game we lost.”
The president’s comment has not gone down well with some fans, who lashed out at him.
