Abia Warriors defeated Doma United to continue their impressive performance at home in their Nigeria Premier Football League match day 18 fixture on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Goals from Ifeanyi Anaemena, Sunday Megwo and Ojonugwa Adejoh secured a 3-0 win at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
After more than 40 minutes of piling up the pressure, the hosts finally got to the opportunity to break the deadlock after Megwo Sunday was brought down in the 18-yard box.
Ifeanyi Anaemena stepped up in the 43rd minute to score his third goal from the spot, giving the lead to the Warriors at the end of the first half.
The home side increased the pressure at the start of the second half as Njoku Augustine’s effort ricocheted the woodwork just 3 minutes into the half.
A minute later Megwo Sunday who had been a major Nemesis for Doma United finished well from Onu Emmanuel’s delightful pass to make it 2-0.
Ojonugwa Adejoh put the icing on the cake when Arinze Ogbonna’s long-range found Njoku Augustine who assisted.
Meanwhile, Sunshine Stars at the Akure Township Stadium were held 0-0 by Niger Tornadoes.
