Abia FA Cup: Abia Warriors emerge 2024 winners

Abia Warriors are winners of the 2024 Abia State FA Cup after edging defending champions, Enyimba FC on penalties on Sunday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Abia Warriors won 4-2 from the spot kicks after it ended 1-1 at full time at the Umuahia Township Stadium, Umuahia.

Warriors’ Meme Okike scored from a close range off Ojonugwa Adejoh’s freekick on 35 minutes.

However, Joseph Atule’s long range strike on 73 minute brought the two teams on level terms.

After about 28 more minutes played, there was nothing to choose between the two sides as the encounter went into penalties.

Goalkeeper Sharp Uzoigwe made a save and Warriors’ starlet, Ayodele Ezekiel showed composure to score the decisive penalty to hand Abia Warriors the trophy.

The two teams will represent Abia State in the Federation Cup.
