Premier League powerhouses Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City are set to do battle in a transfer tug-of-war for unsettled – and out of favour – Real Madrid star Isco.
The attacking midfielder is out of contract in 2018, but so far, he has not been approached with a new deal and speculation persists regarding his future at the Bernabeu.
Speaking to Marca via The Sun, Isco has stated that he will not ‘go asking’ for a contract, insisting that if he is not wanted then he will take his talents elsewhere.
“The truth is that I have not yet thought about it, nor have they asked me to renew, so I am calm. I take it day by day, which is important.
“It seems a little weird [that Real haven’t spoken about it yet], but I can’t do anything.
“If they don’t want me to renew, I won’t go asking for it. It’s something for the club to decide, not me.”?
Isco’s defiance has sparked the transfer desires of some of the Premier League’s biggest and wealthiest clubs, not least Arsenal and Spurs, who are both keen on landing the Spaniard according to Spanish news outlet Diario Madridista.
Juventus were also keen on the 24-year-old during the summer transfer window, but that interest has dissipated amidst Premier League competition.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City complete the list of English suitors for Isco, but another Spanish team have also declared their interest – Malaga, Isco’s old club, are enquiring about the possibility of bringing the Spaniard back to the club.
If a deal is to be done, it is likely to happen prior to 2018 and Isco’s contract expiry, to ensure that Real Madrid do not allow their man to leave on a free transfer.
