Flying Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubairu has expressed confidence that his team’s 2-1 victory over Egypt will bolster their preparations for the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, writes Nigeriasoccernet.com.
In a pre-tournament friendly at the Cairo International Stadium on Tuesday, Kparobo Arierhi and Precious Benjamin scored for Nigeria, while Ahmed Kaabaka netted for Egypt.
Despite the win, Zubairu downplayed its significance, stating, “I don’t think the result makes any difference. The match was just for evaluation.”
He emphasized the valuable insights gained from the match, which will help the team address observed deficiencies as they move forward.
The Flying Eagles are set to face Tunisia, Morocco, and Kenya in Group B at the 2025 U-20 AFCON, starting with their match against Tunisia on Thursday next week.
