More misery for Akor Adams after Sevilla medical staff issued a confirmation regarding the injury sustained by the Nigerian forward, stating that the striker has suffered a hamstring strain during their most recent fixture against Atlético Madrid, Nigeriasoccernt.com can confirm.
The 25-year-old forward who made a move from Montpellier in January for a fee of €5.5 million will commence his rehabilitation program this Wednesday. Unfortunately, Adams has faced persistent injury challenges since his arrival in Spain and the club has now confirmed that he will be out of action for a minimum period of two months, effectively bringing his season to an early close.
Despite these setbacks, Sevilla currently holds an eight-point advantage over the relegation zone, a position aided by favorable results in other matches, including a draw between Leganés and Osasuna. However, the team’s margin for error is steadily decreasing.
The injury to Adams further intensifies Sevilla’s existing injury crisis, as another winter acquisition, Rubén Vargas, has also been ruled out for the remainder of the season. The list of significant long-term absentees for the club also includes Chidera Ejuke, Akor’s countryman, Saúl Ñíguez and central defender Tanguy Nianzou.
