Stade de Reims has secured its place in the Coupe de France final in a somewhat memorable fashion for Nigerian gem Hafiz Ibrahim who scored on the night as they secured a nervy 2-1 victory against AS Cannes, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Stade de Reims demonstrated swift attacking prowess, securing an early lead against Cannes. Their opening goal came in the 14th minute through the Nigerian after a rapid offensive maneuver down the left wing by Mamadou Diakhon who executed a penetrating run into the penalty area.
Mamadou delivered a precise pass back to Hafiz Ibrahim. Displaying composure and accuracy, Ibrahim converted the opportunity, slotting the ball into the net to give Reims a 1-0 advantage, taking the lead into half time.
The goal-scorer turned the provider when he broke away on his wing and sent a good cross to Teddy Teuma, who had just come on. Alone in the box, the Reims midfielder adjusted his shot and gave his team the lead again.
Stade de Reims held on to the final minutes of the game to secure a final place in the Coupe de France against PSG.
