Burnley are talking to former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy about their vacant manager’s position, a source has told ESPN.
Burnley are looking for a new manager after Vincent Kompany left Turf Moor to join Bayern Munich in May.
A source has told ESPN that talks with Van Nistelrooy are ongoing, although he is not the only candidate in the frame.
Burnley, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, have also spoken to Frank Lampard and Scott Parker.

Craig Bellamy, who was Kompany’s assistant, is acting as caretaker manager as they prepare for their return to Championship.
A source has told ESPN that reports the club are on the brink of appointing Van Nistelrooy are wide of the mark, but the Dutchman remains a serious contender for the job.
Van Nistelrooy has been out of work since leaving PSV Eindhoven in 2023.
