CAF CC: Rivers United to get over 160 million naira from CAF

Having qualified for this year’s CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals, Nigeria’s league champions Rivers United are set to pocket over 160 Million Naira, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.

This is the guaranteed amount of money from CAF to all quarterfinalist of Africa’s second-tier inter-club football competition.

The Pride of Rivers finished second in group B behind ASEC Mimosa of Ivory Coast.

The current prize money for the CAF Confederation Cup winner is $1.25 million, with the runner-up receiving $625,000 and the semi-finalists receiving $450,000. Teams that are eliminated in the quarterfinals will receive $350,000.

Apart from the prize money, the winner will also automatically qualify for the 2023–24 CAF Confederation Cup, and also earn the right to play against the winners of the 2022–23 CAF Champions League in the 2023 CAF Super Cup.

Rivers United will know their quarterfinal opponent on Wednesday, the set date by CAF for both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals draw.

Aside ASEC Mimosa who topped group B, Rivers can be paired against any of the teams that finished top of their group with Marumo Gallants, ASFAR and Young Africans in this category.
