Rivers United Boss assures Nigerians of Qualification for CAF CL Group Stage

Rivers United Gaffer, Okey Kpaluchwu has given assurance to Rivers United fans, Nigerians and the Rivers State government that the Pride of Rivers will feature in the group stage of the CAF Champions League.

The Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) Champions qualified for the next round of the tournament despite losing 1-0 to Watanga FC of Liberia in the second leg of the preliminary round due to a 3-0 first leg victory in Nigeria and will face defending Champions Wydad AC of Morocco in the second round.

The manager also showed appreciation to the Rivers State Governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike and Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Barr. Chris Green for their support. He also is expecting a difficult task against Wydad AC.

“It’s going to be a very tough clash against the defending champions, but I want to assure Rivers people and Nigerians that Rivers United have got the quality, support, and backing to qualify into the group stage of the competition.

“The boys will work hard and every hand must be on deck this time to get into the group stage”, he told the club media.
