Value Jet Cup: Ogunbote’s Shooting Stars bow to Vandrezzer as Smart City, Gateway share spoils

Not the kind of start Gbenga Ogunbote would’ve wanted with Shooting Stars but his players failed to live to the expectations as they fell by a lone goal to Vandrezzer FC in their first game of the 2022 Value Jet Cup, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.

It was a relatively fair first half for Shooting Stars who dominated and dictated the pace of the game as both team fired blank going into the break.

At the start of the second half, Vandrezzer took charge, controling the game for a larger part of the half and at some points caged Shooting Stars in their own half.

Their dominance yielded result when Olalekan Abdulsalam tapped into an empty net, a follow up on teammate’s goal bound ball which hit the upright.

All attempts to recover from the goal by Shooting Stars were dashed by a largely dominant Vandrezzer FC display.

Meanwhile, in the 2nd game of the day played simultaneously with that of Shooting Stars and Vandrezzer, Smart City and Gateway United played a one all draw.

Both goals were scored in the first half.

Games resume this afternoon with Ottasolo, Kwara United set to be in action.

Remo Stars and Plateau United will go head to head by 6pm at the main bowl of the Remo Stars stadium Ikenne.
