Napoli have decided to keep leading striker Victor Osimhen for at least one more year and will not listen to offers – no matter how tempting – from any club this summer.
The Serie A giants have lost quite a few key players already during this transfer window and will not sanction the sale of the Super Eagles forward at any price.
At the start of the transfer window, Napoli we’re open to letting Osimhen leave following interest from a few admirers from the English Premier League.
The Neapolitans, however, slammed a €120 million transfer fee on the 23-year-old who they paid an African record 81 million euros to secure from Lille two years ago.
But despite Arsenal and Manchester United enquiring about Osimhen, no has club submitted a bid for the youngster.
And with the 2022-2023 Serie A season kicking off in a few days, Napoli are banking on Osimhen to lead the attack over the next 12 months.
In a related development, Italian football expert Professor Eugenio Albarella has urged new Napoli signing Khvicha ‘Kvara’ Kvaratskhelia to play to the goal scoring potentials of the Nigerian star.
The gifted Georgian youngster from Dinamo Batumi was signed this summer as a direct replacement for departed club captain Lorenzo Insigne but he has been accused of holding on to the ball for too long with teammates left stranded during games.
“Kvara may not have understood that he plays with a team that has players of at least the same level or higher in its plots,” Prof Albarella told Canale 21, as per Tutto Napoli. “The extra play that sometimes puts Osimhen out of time or Lozano must be corrected along the way and I am sure the coach is already working on it.”
“It is as if he wanted to prove at all costs that he is good and it is useless. Here it is only important to be incisive and decisive.”
Osimhen was Napoli’s highest goalscorer in all competitions last season, with the former Lille lad hitting the target 18 times
