Idowu sees red as Khimki suffer third defeat in four matches

Super Eagles defender Brian Idowu was red-carded in his club’s 2-1 defeat to FK Akhmat in the Russian Premier League on Saturday.

Idowu started the game for Khimki in his favorite left-back position, but he was unable to finish the after he was sent off for two bookable offenses.

Khimki opened the scoring in the 21st minutes of the encounter, through Egor Danilkin, but the visitors hit back in 73rd minutes through Vladimir Iljin’s penalty, shortly after Artem Polyarus wasted golden opportunity to double Khimki’s lead from the spot in the 65th minute.

The visitors completed the turnaround, shortly after the equalizer, thanks to a goal from Artem Timofeev.

Khimki woes was compounded moment later as Bryan Idowu was issued his second yellow card of the game in the 77th minutes.

The Super Eagles forward have now been sent off for the first time this season and Khimki suffered their third defeat in four league games so far in the new season.

Khimki currently occupies 15th position on the table.
