Nigeria goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa’s performances have attracted the attention of a-yet-to-be disclosed Italian Serie A side.
Ezenwa, who doubles as home-based Super Eagles captain having helped the side qualify for the 2018 CHAN competition, was impressive during the concluded WAFU Nations Cup in Gold Coast, Ghana, where Nigeria lost 4-1 to hosts and defending champions Black Stars.
The Italian side have been following the FC Ifeanyiubah shot stopper including during the WAFU Nations Cup in Ghana and have instructed a Nigerian agent to get the goalkeeper, whose profile has been on the rise with his appearances for both the Super Eagles and the home-based national team.
The agent has already reached out to Ezenwa soon on arrival from the WAFU Nations Cup.
The Italian club representative will be at Nnewi next week during the reverse fixture of the Aiteo Cup semifinal against Niger Tornadoes.
“Ezenwa has impressed the Italian club. Don’t ask me which club, but if things worked out, they are prepared for a deal quickest”, a source said.
Ezenwa started to attract European interest during the La Liga/NPFL All-Stars visit to Spain in 2016.
