AIK forward Alexander Isak looks set “?to snub interest from Real Madrid and move to Germany instead to join Borussia Dortmund.

The young Swede has attracted plenty of interest from many top European clubs in recent months, but reports in the Spanish press last week suggested that a deal had been agreed between AIK and Los Blancos, that would see the 17-year-old move to the Bernabeu for an estimated £8.6m.

That figure would make the youngster the most expensive teenager in Swedish history, ahead of Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but there appears to have been a late twist in the transfer saga as “?Sport Bladet report that Isak has decided against a move to Spain and has opted to join Dortmund instead.

The German club’s youth policy is understood to be one of the reasons behind the change of mind as Dortmund are well known to promote young players, whereas Madrid have shown with Norwegian sensation Martin Odegaard that they are less likely to provide Isak with game time.

The forward is expected to have a bright future, with some predicting that he will surpass Ibrahimovic as Sweden’s record goalscorer. He scored 10 goals in 19 appearances for AIK last season, which helped them finish second and qualify for the Europa League.

With the 2017 campaign not due to begin until early April, Isak could well have played his final game for AIK and looks set to leave the country of his birth to continue his development in Germany, under the tutelage of Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel.
