The agent of Bayer Leverkusen”? midfielder Benjamin Henrichs has dismissed talk of a potential transfer to Manchester City.

The 19-year-old has made 14 Bundesliga appearances for the German side, contributing two assists, and has also helped Roger Schmidt’s side to qualify for the last-16 round of the Champions League.

There has been talk of a potential move for Henrichs to Pep Guardiola’s City, but Ali Bulut, the player’s agent, has dismissed the transfer talk, insisting his client is in the best possible place to continue his development.

“There are many clubs that are interested in Benjamin,” Bulut told German publication “?Express

“But the boy is only 19-years-old, last year he still played in the A-Youth. He is supposed to grow up first. In Leverkusen, he is in the best position at the moment.

“Leverkusen is for me one of the most serious clubs in Europe.

“There is no reason to leave Bayer.”

“Roger Schmidt has reinvented Benjamin Henrichs,” former Leverkusen and Germany striker Rudi Voller said.

City manager Guardiola knows the Bundesliga well from his time with Bayern Munich, during which he won the league in three consecutive seasons.

Henrichs earned his first Germany call-up in November last year, making his debut for Joachim Low’s side in the 8-0 win over minnows San Marino. He has also featured for the national team’s U19 and U21 sides.

Leverkusen are currently ninth in the Bundesliga, and face a battle to qualify for European football next season. They take on Atletico Madrid in their last-16 Champions League tie.
