“?West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City have reportedly agreed over a fee for the transfer of unsettled striker Saido Berahino, despite Mark Hughes claiming that the clubs had reached an impasse only a few hours ago.
Stoke had a £6m offer turned down by the Baggies, but are said to have agreed deal which could rise to £15m including add-ons which should see the player complete a move in short order as he has been given permission to discuss terms.
West Brom have finally agreed a deal with Stoke for Saido Berahino. More @TeleFootball #saga
West Brom boss Tony Pulis, speaking on the initial bid, said that it was nowhere near what the club wanted.
“Yes, there has been a bid from Stoke, but nowhere near what this club wants,” he said. “Every window I’ve been at this football club we’ve talked about same thing. Hopefully it’s over in two weeks.”
“It sways from one end of the scale to the other,” Hughes said in his own Stoke presser on Friday. “I said last week that I was more confident that something could be done.
Understand the initial payment for Berahino from @stokecity would be around £8m in a structured deal rising to £15m if he and Stoke prosper.
“It’s fair to say now that it’s swung the other way. There hasn’t been too much progress for some time. I might be wrong and things might change quickly but people seem to be entrenched in positions. It’s down to price and other things.”
Well, those statements seem to have no weight right now, as Berahino, from all indications, is set to finally leave the Hawthorns.
The Baggies are believed to be chasing Watford striker Odion Ighalo as a replacement, and will ramp up their efforts after the deal is done.
