“?Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has revealed the two players he used to admire when growing up as a youngster.
The Frenchman has found it difficult to tie down a regular starting spot in the United side since Jose Mourinho took over as manager in the summer, although he did start in the recent Premier League meeting with Liverpool last weekend.
As he continues to search for greater consistency to his game, Martial has been opening up to the “?United Review in a recent interview and has named his footballing heroes whilst growing up as a youngster.
The former Monaco star said: “Ronaldo, the Brazilian one, and Ronaldinho.”
Both players have gone down as legends of the game, with Ronaldo perhaps best known for his superb goalscoring record at both club level and for the Brazilian national team.

He played for a number of high profile European sides, including Spanish rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid, and confirmed his place in footballing history by scoring twice in the 2002 World Cup final which not only won the competition for Brazil, but also saw him claim the Golden Shoe.
Also present in the successful Brazilian side in 2002 was Martial’s second hero, Ronaldinho.
The attacking midfielder, who could also play as a forward, made his name playing for Barcelona and won the 2005 Ballon d’Or for his outstanding performances for the Catalans. Despite leaving the Nou Camp three years later, Ronaldinho recently returned to Barca and took up a role as a club ambassador.
It’s easy to see why both players were admired by Martial and if the Frenchman can emulate either player in some way in the years to come, then he too may go down as a legend of the game one day.
