“?Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has signed a new one-year-deal with the Bavarians, which will keep him at the Allianz Arena until the summer of 2018.

The winger’s future has been the subject of intense speculation in recent weeks after stalling on a new deal with Bayern, whilst also refusing to rule out a move to the Chinese Super League, where he could earn a significant amount of money.

However, Robben hinted last week that he was close to agreeing a new deal with his current club, when he told “?Four Four Two: “I have no deadline, if it comes it comes. I only concentrate on football. I still have a contract, after that I’ll stay another year, maybe another year (after that).”

And just a week after the 32-year-old made those comments, he has finally put pen to paper and agreed to prolong his career with the current Bundesliga champions, at least for another year.

His father, who announced the news to German football magazine “?Kicker, explained that it was a simple decision for his son and that Robben junior feels that his advancing years will not impact upon his performances for Bayern.

Robben senior said: “There were a few things to clarify and now everything is clear.”

“Arjen does not want to be the fifth wheel on the car. But Arjen wanted to stay, he never played for money, he wanted to win the title.”

The winger has been with Bayern Munich for seven years now and has scored over 100 goals for the club. He is on course to win his sixth Bundesliga title as the reigning champions currently top the table by three points, heading into the second half of the season.
