Maikaba Seeks Fine Debut As Akwa United Coach, Lists 18 players For ABS Clash

Akwa United coach Abdul Maikaba is hopeful of starting his reign in charge of the team on a positive note.

Maikaba swapped Wikki Tourists for the Promise Keepers at the end of last campaign after a successful two-year spell which culminated in the Bauchi Elephants picking a CAF Confederation Cup ticket for the first in the history of the club.

Akwa United will face newcomers, ABS of Ilorin in their match-day one fixture at the Kwara Sports Complex on Sunday.

“I’m looking forward to my first official game as Akwa United coach against ABS in Ilorin on Sunday, and hopefully, it will be a successful one.”

“We have prepared well for the new season and we want to start on a good note.

“We know what to expect from a game like this, and we will be up for the challenge.”

Meanwhile, the former Enyimba assistant coach has list 18 Akwa United players for the encounter.

The list include reliable goalkeeper, Olufemi Kayode, skipper of the team, Otobong Effiong, new signings, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi, Musa Newman, Christian Pyagbara and Semiu Liadi
