“?Just two days after it was made public that Dimitri Payet is refusing the play for West Ham, further details are emerging of the lengths he is prepared to go to force a move away from the club, with reports in the “?Mirror suggesting the Frenchman threatened to fake an injury if he was selected to play.

Hammers boss Slaven Bilic explained in his press conference on Thursday that Payet is no longer prepared to play for the club and with West Ham adamant that he will not be sold during this month’s transfer window, the two parties are in the midst of a stand off that is unlikely to be resolved anytime soon.

West Ham paid Dimitri Payet a £1 million loyalty bonus in September

And as the story continues to develop, the Mirror suggests that Payet made his threat to feign injury to club officials on Thursday, moments before Bilic made the winger’s decision public.

A club insider revealed to the Mirror: “He has said that unless he gets a move he will neither train nor play and he will invent an injury.”?

Payet is understood to have had several opportunities to retract his decision to go on strike but this threat made to the club gives us an indication of how far he is prepared to go to avoid playing for the team again.

It is not yet known whether the French international’s claims of a “?back problem are linked to his threat to fake injury, but whilst the hostilities remain between Payet’s camp and West Ham officials, the former remain hopeful that a solution can be agreed in the near future.

Following another meeting between the player’s representatives and the Hammers, a source close to Payet revealed: “The meeting went well, we are hopeful he will be able to go with the club’s blessing.”?

West Ham are already believed to have rejected an initial bid from Marseille for the playmaker and though they insist he will not be sold, it appears that his departure is inevitable in the coming weeks, providing a buyer can match the Iron’s £30 asking price.
