Ex-Liverpool Midfielder Regrets Outrageous Promise After Scoring a Double in the Milan Derby

“?Former Liverpool man Suso has become a firm fan favourite on the red half of the San Siro, after the Spaniard scored twice in AC Milan’s thrilling 2-2 draw with city rivals Inter on Sunday.

However, the 23-year-old was left red faced by a promise he had made before the game.

Before the derby, Suso told reporters that he would walk home (a reported 27-mile journey) if he netted twice in the game.

“If I get two goals on Sunday then I will walk back to my home near the Milanello [training base],”? Suso told Il Giornale, as quoted by Goal

“I have never scored at home.”?

The midfielder, who joined from Liverpool in 2015 and never scored in a league game on Merseyside, of course went on to score a brace in the hotly-contested match. The Rossoneri were, however, denied all three point by Ivan Perisic’s last gasp equaliser.

Rather than honouring his word, the Cadiz-born star (probably after looking at Google maps) added some small print to his promise and decided that the final result negated the agreement.

“We didn’t win, so I won’t walk home,” he told Mediaset Premium, as quoted by Goal.

“It seemed almost impossible to score a brace, but I did it “? and yet we still drew.”

Hmm… it’s probably not the biggest backtrack of 2016, but still.
