THE Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has expressed happiness over the landmark N5 billion financial earning of Nigerian clubs from the transfer of players both from within the domestic fronts and the foreign leagues in the last 10 months.
The Manager, Trans- fer Matching System (TMS) of the football federation, Nasir Jubril, who spoke to journalists at the ongoing Domestic Transfer Matching System (DTMS) workshop in Abuja, explained that the figure represents what the various clubs have received from the movement of their players in the period under review.
“In the last 10 months that is between January and October this year, a cash inflow of about N5 billion has accrued into coffers
of the clubs in Nigeria from transfer of players. For instance, if a player is bought for say £2 or £3 million, when you convert that with the current exchange rate you can imagine what we are talking about. It is an attestation that Nigerian football is making serious progress,” he noted.
While explaining the importance of the workshop, Jubril said that it is aimed at fully educating the managers of the 20 Nigerian Premier League (NPL) clubs as well as the 32 others competing in the lower Nigerian National League (NNL).
He equally revealed that the world football governing body, FIFA has now made it mandatory for every football player in the world to be registered by their federations, adding
that such has made the transfer of players either from one country to another or one club to the other less stressful.
