LMC Chairman, Shehu Dikko has said that the body is currently working to align the NPFL calendar with the European calendars in order to effectively improve national team planning and also to ensure better marketing of the league, so that players can take advantage of the international breaks.
The LMC Chairman further noted , that the body will ensure the early kick off of the 2016-17 NPFL season, so as to make sure the teams representing Nigeria in either of the Caf Champions League or Confederation Cup next season, would have played up to 13 or more league matches before their respective continental chase kicks start.
Dikko maintains that the late kickoff of the NPFL is one of the reasons Nigerian clubs have not fared well on the continent.
