Nigeria And Egypt Friendly Set For Jan. 9 In Dubai

Super Eagles

The Super Eagles of Nigeria would on January 9, 2017 in Dubai take on the Pharaohs of Egypt in an international friendly match.

According to NFF officials, the match would be prosecuted by NPFL players for Nigeria.

The officials explained that Egypt planned to use the game to prepare for her AFCON 2017 in Gabon.

It would be recalled that Egypt eliminated Nigeria from the AFCON after a double header in March.

It was expected that the warm-up game will also afford Nigeria coach, Gernot Rohr the opportunity to work more closely with players who feature in the domestic league.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles first choice goalie, injured Carl Ikeme is expected to resume training soon for Nigeria.

Ikeme was expected to resume training with his English Championship club, Wolverhampton Wanderers in a fortnight, according to Rohr.

“He will start training with Wolverhampton Wanders in two weeks,” disclosed Rohr.

A hip injury stopped Ikeme from last weekend’s World Cup qualifier against Algeria in Uyo.

Late replacement, Daniel Akpeyi from South African club, Chippa United deputised for the Nigeria first-choice goalkeeper on Saturday.
