Everton Back in the Hunt for Napoli Striker Manolo Gabbiadani

Everton are set to make another attempt at signing Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadani once the transfer window opens in January.

The Toffees apparently made an offer of £26.5m for the striker during the summer but the Serie A side were reluctant to sell following the loss of forward Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus.

According to reports from talkSPORT, the Italian outfit have become frustrated with Gabbiadani after he was sent off during Napoli’s 2-1 victory over Crotone at the weekend. The 24-year-old has struggled in front of goal this season, netting just two goals in 10 appearances.

Now Milik is out for atleast 4 months, there’s no other striker on the bench, was this necessary Gabbiadini? Just got sent off for Napoli… pic.twitter.com/b4tbuZPMDX

Napoli are believed to be discussing the idea of selling the Italian international, with the Toffees favourites to land the forward following their first failed attempt.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman may look to bring in another attacker to ease the pressure on striker Romelu Lukaku, who scored six of the club’s 13 league goals this campaign.

Everton possess just three strikers in their squad with Arouna Kone and Enner Valencia playing second fiddle to Lukaku at Goodison, so a move for Gabbiadini would provide Koeman with another option to call upon.

The Italian forward is a versatile character as he’s able to play on the left and right flank as well as an out and out striker.

The Serie A side may sell the man in question if they are able to bring in a replacement as they are currently facing a crisis in attack. Napoli frontman is Arkadiusz Milik currently sidelined after seriously injuring his knee, while on international duty with Poland.

Should the Premier League side make an offer similar to the £26.5 million deal in the summer then Napoli may be tempted to cash in on the out of form Gabbiadini, providing them with the funds to bolster their squad as they challenge for the league title in Italy.
