Serie A 2016-17: Five Things To Look Out For In Round Seven

After yet another wide range of results for Italian representatives in Europe, this weekend’s Serie A action will be a case of redemption for some and capitalising on good form for others.

Inter‘s Europa League campaign continued to suffer with a 3-1 defeat to Sparta Prague, making it two losses from two so far against the Czechs and Hapoel Be’er Sheva, however Juventus, Napoli and Fiorentina all recorded emphatic victories.

While that will most definitely play a part this weekend, there are other interesting things to look out for when watching your favourite team on Saturday and Sunday.

Here are five things to look out for in round seven of the 2016/17 Serie A season.

1. The pre-international break

This weekend will see that last domestic football in Italy until October 15, with international sides taking to the stage next week in World Cup qualifiers.

For some sides, such as Inter and Sampdoria, this will come as a welcome break either to put an end to their disappointing form or to end the bad run of luck they have had recently.

For others, such as AC Milan, a hiatus will get in the way of a run of good form, and international fixtures always pose the risk of giving key players injuries.

It works both ways, too, and several players this weekend could be rested in order to give themselves the best chance of playing for their country next week.
