“?Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has admitted to being ‘starstruck’ when he got the chance to meet his idol Thierry Henry, according to “?Sky Sports.
The 18-year-old has had a sensational rise from academy prospect to senior first team player since his debut for in February of this year, scoring 12 goals in 25 appearances, however the talented youngster still admits to feeling in awe of certain players, with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry one of them.
The Premier League’s greatest striker turned Sky Sports pundit and Belgium assistant manager visited the Manchester United training complex earlier this month, speaking to the players and finding out about the club’s preparations for training and matches, and Rashford commented that he finds it crazy that one of his heroes even knows his name.
“Thierry Henry is one of my heroes,” said the United striker. “He is one of the players I watched when I was younger.
“When I was 17 I changed position to be a forward and he, along with the Brazilian Ronaldo, were the two players I tried to mirror my performance on so I would watch how they scored goals. He was definitely one of the major players.
“It’s crazy when you think about it, he knows who I am and it’s very strange. You see ex-professionals talking about you, players you think would never know you.
“So it’s different but when you hear these things from those types of people it just gives you so much more confidence and belief that you can go on and achieve more.”
Rashford continued his fine form in United colours with another goal and an assist in his side’s 4-1 demolition of reigning champions Leicester City at Old Trafford on Saturday.
