Isaac Success Earns First Nation Call-Up

Isaac Success, Watford, Woking, Nigeria

Isaac Success has been called up to the Nigeria squad for the first time, with Odion Ighalo omitted from the squad due to the death of his father.

Success has come off the bench in each of Watford’s last three games, but is yet to start for the Hornets.

The 20-year-old made three substitute appearances at the U20 world cup this summer, scoring in Nigeria’s 4-0 win over North Korea.

And although Mazzarri hasn’t handed the £12.5m signing his first start yet, he expects him to have a long and successful career at Watford.

“We are very pleased for him and we think the club helped him to get a call up,” explained Mazzarri

“He is a very young player and if he follows our mentality in this club, then we think he is going to have a very good future for Watford and for his national side.”

Mazzarri was also asked his thoughts on the African Cup of Nations with both Nordin Amrabat and Adlene Guedioura likely to be involved in the tournament.

Luckily for Watford, Odion Ighalo and Isaac Success won’t be missing any games, with Nigeria failing to qualify.

He added: “Of course it isn’t good for us but these are the rules. As a manager I would like to keep them here but we can’t do anything different so we have to deal with it.”
