“?Leicester’s Welsh international midfielder Andy King believes his side can still improve, even without his former teammate N’Golo Kante.
According to “?the Mirror, King, who has been at Leicester since 2008 when the Midlands club were still languishing in League 1, thinks that Daniel Amartey has the ability to fill the void left by Chelsea’s £30m summer signing.
Speaking ahead of Kante’s return visit to the to the King Power on Tuesday night with Chelsea for the third round EFL Cup clash, King backed his manager’s ability to find a solution to the loss of Kante.
“We remember N’Golo well, he was a brilliant player and had great success,” he said.
“He chose to go to play elsewhere but that is football, people move on and new people come.
Leicester can be BETTER without N’Golo Kante says Andy King, ahead of Frenchman’s return with Chelsea https://t.co/Mk6dqhH38L #CFC
“Losing him was always going to be tough to fill, probably no one else in the league plays like him. But it is about trying to find the balance to try to replace him. That is obviously the manager’s job to find that.”?
King also added praise for Kante’s current replacement, Daniel Amartey (new signing Nampalys Mendy is currently out injured).
“Daniel has done really well to help fill the void. He is only young, still learning, and has a lot of potential. It’s still early days but we’re getting there.”?
Claudio Ranieri is set to make a few changes for the EFL Cup tie with Chelsea, with King himself a potential starter. The Foxes are reportedly set to rest new striker Islam Slimani after his brace against Burnley last weekend, as well as possibly a few other big names.
King is not taking the game any less seriously, however, stating: “We want to go as far as we can in every competition.”?
