“?Manchester City have reportedly agree a new contract extension with superstar striker Sergio Aguero that will keep the Argentine at the Etihad Stadium for another year beyond the expiration of his current deal.

According to ESPN, the new agreement will see Aguero sign on until June 2020, by which point he will have just turned 32 years of age and have been a City player for nine full seasons.

The report of the new deal comes despite the player’s previous insistence that he would return home to boyhood club Independiente in 2019. Aguero left the Buenos Aires giants when he was just 18 and wants to pull on the famous shirt again while he still has something to offer.

That makes any extension with City something of a coup for the two-time Premier League champions.

It is said that the deal was actually struck in principle as far back as January, even before new manager Pep Guardiola breathed new life into the squad and the club as a whole.

Aguero has started the 2016/17 season in typically good form. A domestic suspension aside for an unfortunate altercation with West Ham defender Winston Reid, he’s already scored two hat-tricks, one against Stoke and one against Borussia Monchengladbach.

The player will miss upcoming domestic games against Bournemouth in the Premier League and Swansea in the EFL Cup, but will be back in contention when City face Swansea away in the league on 24 September.

He has already scored 145 times in 213 City appearances since arriving as a club record but from Atletico Madrid in 2011. In April 2016, he also became the fastest player in Premier League history to reach the 100 goal milestone.
