“?Italian giants Juventus are eager to sign Tottenham’s attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen, “?according to Gazzetta World.
Spurs are struggling to agree a new contract with the Danish international, who joined the club in 2013, due to the strict wage structure that chairman Daniel Levy has implemented during his time at White Hart Lane.
Spurs stars like Harry Kane, Eric Dier and Dele Alli have all signed new contracts with the club in recent times, and Spurs are yet to sell any key players from their impressive 2015-16 Premier League campaign, but Eriksen’s wage demands are reportedly causing a rift between himself and the club.
Juventus have now reportedly expressed an interest and are willing to match Eriksen’s wage demands. The 24-year-old is reportedly asking for €175,000 a week, which would represent a significant increase on his current earnings of €37,000 a week.
Juventus’ Serie A rivals Inter are also reportedly interested in signing Eriksen, with new boss Frank de Boer apparently eager to work with Spurs’ attacking midfielder again, having already spent time together at Eriksen’s former club Ajax.
Despite being outshone by the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Toby Alderweireld, Eriksen was still a vital part of Tottenham’s side who ultimately fell short in their Premier League title pursuit, finishing behind champions Leicester and bitter rivals Arsenal.
Eriksen played in Tottenham’s opening Premier League encounter with Everton, and took to Twitter after the game to thank Spurs’ fans for their support, while also partially addressing the rumours regarding his current contract situation.
Not the result we wanted! But still one point and great support from the fans?
