Nigeria Olympic team have finally departed their training base in Atlanta, Georgia, for Brazil after three postponements over delayed issuance of flight tickets.
“We are about the take-off now,” a player informed nigeriasoccernet.com shortly before they departed the US around 6pm Nigerian time.
From their departure, they are just a mere 31 hours before their first match early Friday morning against Asian champions Japan and it is left to be seen whether they will not be adversely affected by jet lag.
Kick-off of the Japan match is 2am on Friday Nigerian time.
Nigeria will also face Sweden and Colombia at the Rio Olympics.
