“?Stoke City have warned West Brom amid their interest in signing Baggies striker Saido Berahino, per the “?Albion Express and Star.
The forward has long been linked with a move away from the club, but the coaching staff have said that they have no idea if Berahino is leaving this summer.
West Brom have already refused bids from Stoke and Crystal Palace in recent weeks, and will be holding firmly until they sign a striker.
When assistant manager Dave Kemp was asked if Berahino would be at the Hawthorns for the next campaign, he replied. “I have no idea. You could have asked me that question any day since I’ve been here.
“It’s something we sort of inherited really. All these rumours and things, he’s a West Brom player and that’s what we’re working with. He scored two goals against Kidderminster. He’s looked sharp, he’s trained well, that’s all you can ask for.”?
Kemp added that team manager Tony Pulis isn’t in the least bit distracted by the speculation surrounding Berahino.
“There’s always ups and downs and this crisis and that crisis,”? he said.
“You can’t let things affect you, you just keep on working.”?
Speaking ahead of West Brom’s pre-season friendly match against Plymouth Argyle, Pulis said that every player would travel with the team as long as he is fit.
“Everybody who is fit will be travelling,”? said the boss “I’m not saying we will start with our best team but it will be very close to it.”
While Stoke are favourites to land the player, Tony Scholes, their chief executive, has hinted that the Potters may soon look elsewhere.
“If we are looking to bring in a player we never just chase one player for a position,”? he said. “We always chase a few.”?
