“?Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that his team is currently locked in talks with Borussia Dortmund over a transfer for Mario Gotze.
The 24-year-old joined the Bundesliga champions back in 2013, but has failed to live up to the hype or consistently show the form which made him one of the most lethal attackers in Germany whilst he was at Dortmund.
He has been linked with a move away all summer, and although he dismissed rumours of a return to Dortmund at first, it appears that he may now be on the move, with Rummenigge admitting that the two clubs are in discussions.
“I can confirm that talks with Borussia Dortmund have taken place,” Rummenigge told Sport1 (via “?Goal).
“There have also been talks with his agent, but the deal is not done just yet. Both clubs will have to reach an agreement over a transfer fee first.
“Gotze has been at Bayern for three years and it did not work out for him. I am not surprised that Gotze wants to leave. He is 24 years old and needs to play regularly.”

According to reports, the German champions have set a price of €22.7m for Gotze, whose contract expires in June of 2017.
Dortmund fans, however, are not so keen on seeing the midfielder return, and he would need to show good form right off the bat if he is to return to their good graces.
During a match in April a section of supporters held up a banner which read: “Milan or Madrid. Just not Dortmund. P*** off Gotze.”
